I am writing to thank you for manufacturing/marketing such a quality product. I purchased a model T3 several years ago and had only used it occasionally. Not long ago, I helped my son move nearly 2,000 miles. We rented a 5x10’ tag-along trailer and towed it behind a Ford F-150 5.4L V8 with factory towing package. I used your T3 locking hitch pin to secure my tow-bar. What I didn’t know was that the trailer had several defects, to include a broken coupler lock and a non-functional breakaway brake system. While driving on I-20, the trailer became separated from the tow ball. The breakaway system triggered, but failed. The trailer began oscillating behind the truck, violently throwing me from lane to lane. Slowing the truck caused the trailer to violently slam against the rear of the truck -time after time. One of the two safety chains on the trailer broke. Eventually, the trailer coupler got caught under my truck’s hitch and I was able to regain some control. When I was finally able to stop the truck, I discovered that the trailer coupler repeatedly slammed into the T3 locking pin. The pin looked like someone beat it with a sledgehammer, especially on the lock end. However- the lock held throughout all this abuse. Although the lock end was damaged, it would still release with the key and we were able to exchange trailers and continue our journey. This was the most frightening experience I’ve ever had in lost of years and thousands of miles towing trailers. If not for the strength of the T3 lock, I’m certain this could have ended in a disaster. Thank you and your company for a quality product.
